The images, most of which Thetford shot while traveling across the country, capture the more unassuming features of the South—a desolate barn, an empty field, a quirky billboard sign. From the vintage interior of a Northport, Alabama, barbershop to a 25-foot tall lighthouse replica in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia, Thetford has an eye for the authentic and the absurd. His works also include a series of amusing vintage signs and advertisements, such as a billboard found near the Florida-Georgia state line that reads 'Nude Dancing Down By The Lake.'"
