A Quote from Danielle McClure, Noteworthy Exhibits, Black and White City Paper, 2005
"Daryl Thetford's photographs are a roadside travel guide to rural America. The images, most of which Thetford shot while traveling across the country, capture the more unassuming features of the South—a desolate barn, an empty field, a quirky billboard sign. From the vintage interior of a Northport, Alabama, barbershop to a 25-foot tall lighthouse replica in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia, Thetford has an eye for the authentic and the absurd. His works also include a series of amusing vintage signs and advertisements, such as a billboard found near the Florida-Georgia state line that reads 'Nude Dancing Down By The Lake.'"
